Corruption
Your body has begun to succumb to demonic corruption. Every step along this path grants you additional power, but be warned: if you are corrupted entirely, you will no longer be in control of your own mind.
Corruption is a simple mechanic. The higher it gets (with every 1% it increases), the stronger you get (base attributes go up by 1%). This, however, comes at a great price, which is your own mental sanity.
Corruption feeds off your insecurities, off your anger and your more primal emotions, turning an otherwise latent voice into a sapient creature that might just take over you.
Corruption can increase in a variety of ways. The first and more simple of the four is by suffering an injury from other creatures with this very condition. Second is exposition. By being near corruption and getting exposed to it, staving off the progress of this corruption will become substantially harder and cause it to go up. The third way, and the one that seems to be harder to fight, is by failing to resist the voice brought about by the corruption. Doing this might send you into an eternal episode of violence that no miracle will ever get you out of.
And there’s also the fact corruption empowers every single one of your enchantments. A summary of its effect on enchantments would be that it makes them deadlier and confers them, usually speaking, an explosive property that enhances their destructive capacity, but the effects are varied. The one constant is the dark, shadowy hue these bear by default and the red color runes take when activated (though the closing of portals has put an end to this effect).
